Find out how turtles contribute to ecosystem health, learn more about their behaviour, and hear from scientists about their local research.

Part One: Turtles amongst us

Grégory Bulté, B.Sc., Ph.D. is a biology instructor at Carleton University in Ottawa. He’s been studying turtles for many years, including the turtles of Lake Opinicon. He will share his knowledge about turtles and his latest research findings.

Part Two: Turtles in Kingston’s Inner Harbour

Lesley Rudy studied the Northern Map turtles of the Great Cataraqui River for her Master’s of Science degree in Biology at Queen’s University. She will present her findings which are helping to fill the gaps in knowledge about the factors affecting hatchling turtle survival and emergence from the nest.

Part Three: Photo Sharing Session:

Please send a photograph of a recent turtle sighting in the KFLA region to: passport@landconservancykfla.org. You can present it to attendees for their enjoyment and ask questions about turtle behaviour that you have observed. Photo submissions close Sunday, May 16 at midnight. Note that we will not post your photographs on social media without your permission.
